‘PANAGHIUSA’ BRINGS TOGETHER CEBU SECTORS FOR INCLUSION PUSH

CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES As calls for safe spaces continue, two Cebu-based non-profit groups gathered leaders from the private sector and various organizations in a show of unity and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) on April 22, 2026.

JCI Cebu Lakan Bahaghari and Cebu Pride Movement convened key stakeholders through Panaghiusa, bringing together decision-makers and changemakers to share experiences, best practices, and a common vision for a more inclusive Cebu.

The initiative aligns with JCI Philippines’ Walk With Pride national program, which aims to build sustainable systems for inclusive leadership and create safe spaces for marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA+ members, PWDs, Indigenous Peoples, and underserved sectors.

The event highlighted the signing of a Declaration of Commitment to DEI, marking a collective pledge from participating groups to promote inclusion in their respective communities, workplaces, and organizations.

Among those who expressed support were representatives from different sectors, including 2Lt. Theofillus Fontiveros of the 14th CMO Battalion and CPYDO Pro Bono Consultant Marven Gorgonio.

Just this month, various sectors gathered at the Cebu Capitol to discuss a province-wide initiative for the upcoming Pride Month in June. Organizers shared that this year’s celebration, with the support of the provincial government, will move away from focusing on grandeur and festivities, and will instead kick-off with a series of informational and awareness-driven initiatives.

Organizers stressed that efforts like Panaghiusa go beyond a one-time gathering, aiming to strengthen representation and continue building inclusive spaces across Cebu.
