NAGA CITY, CEBU — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order against the operator of the public utility jeepney involved in a vehicular crash in Barangay Tuyan, Naga City, Cebu yesterday morning, March 9.
In a statement released today, March 10, LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the issuance of the show cause order was intended to shed light on the circumstances of the incident, particularly if there was any lapse on the part of the driver or the operator of the passenger vehicle.
“We want to know every detail of the incident not only to determine accountability but also come up with road safety policies,” Mendoza said.
Apart from the transport operator, the jeepney driver was also requested to submit a written explanation as to why they should not be held liable for the incident.
Additionally, both the operator and the driver were also instructed to appear at a hearing.
Meanwhile, Mendoza also directed LTFRB-7 to assist the victims in the payment of insurance over the incident, saying the move is an immediate form of assistance, especially for those whose injuries require medical attention.
