For Michael Eric Go, Vice President of Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp. (PSACC), business is deeply tied to faith, family, and responsibility. His story traces back to 1919, when his grandfather, Sulpicio Go Guioc So, left China at just 13 years old and came to the Philippines in search of a better life. Starting as a copra trader, he eventually entered the shipping industry and founded Sulpicio Lines in 1973, building a company meant to serve both his family and the country.
Years later, Michael joined the business after graduating from De La Salle University in 1998. But stepping into the family legacy was from financial struggles to difficult periods that tested the company’s survival. “There was a moment when it felt as though everything had been lost,” Michael recalls.
What kept him going was not only experience, but faith. “Tomorrow offers new hope,” he says. For Michael, challenges are meant to strengthen people, not destroy them. He also knew that thousands of lives depended on the company, including employees, suppliers, and their families. “Letting go was never an option,” he says firmly.
The values passed down by his grandparents—integrity, hard work, and persistence—continue to guide his leadership today. For him, the company is more than ships and cargo. It is a family built on trust, loyalty, and shared purpose.
Despite changes in the industry, PSACC continues to move forward by embracing technology while staying true to its values. Michael believes success is not measured only by profits, but by the lives the company touches and the hope it brings to communities.
For him, every voyage carries more than cargo—it carries a legacy of resilience, faith, and service that continues to guide the company into the future.
