From humble beginnings in northern Cebu to becoming one of the region’s respected business leaders, Mark Anthony Ynoc’s journey is a story of resilience, vision, and perseverance.
Raised by hardworking parents, a fisherman from San Remigio and a farmer from Borbon, Mark grew up helping in the family’s small trucking business, which started from a rented apartment in the 1980s. What began as a modest logistics venture would eventually grow into a diversified business group under his leadership.
Today, Mark heads several successful enterprises, including Ynoc Prime Land Corp., Ynoc International Trading, San Remigio Beach Club, and Prime Movers Total Logistics. But the road to success was far from smooth.
“I lacked experience and often made immature decisions,” Mark admits. Early setbacks included cash flow problems, theft, failed ventures, and broken business agreements. The devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 nearly wiped out the family’s resort business. Yet through every challenge, he remained determined to move forward.
“What kept me going was vision, courage, and passion,” he says. Guided by faith and a commitment to helping others, Mark transformed difficulties into opportunities for growth. Today, his companies also support community and charitable initiatives across Cebu.
As president of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Mark remains optimistic about Cebu’s future. He believes the province’s strategic location, diverse economy, and talented workforce make it one of the best places in the country to build a business.
Always willing to adapt, he has expanded his logistics company’s services and introduced innovative projects such as farm subdivisions through his property business. Looking ahead, he sees strong opportunities in logistics, agriculture, digitalization, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, his advice is simple: “Start small but aim big. Be a student forever.”
From a fisherman’s son to a business leader, Mark Anthony Ynoc’s story proves that with resilience, continuous learning, and bold vision, great opportunities can emerge from even the most humble beginnings.
