Erik L. Lim: Powering Cebu’s next chapter

Erik L. Lim, President and CEO of Topline Group, is quietly helping shape Cebu’s business landscape through vision, courage, and hard work. More than a businessman, he sees himself as a builder of opportunities—someone who turns challenges into growth and believes in the potential of his community.

His journey began in 2013 in real estate, inspired by his family’s background in mall development. But a simple observation changed his path. Behind one of their malls was a port where ships refueled, and Erik saw an opportunity others missed. By 2017, Topline entered the fuel industry, stepping into a highly competitive field. “There were moments it felt almost impossible,” he recalls, especially when securing their first bank loan. Still, his determination and the support of his team helped the company move forward.

For Erik, Cebu plays a key role in his success. He describes it as a place where opportunities, talent, and ideas come together. With its strong workforce and growing infrastructure, he believes Cebu is one of the most promising areas for business and innovation.

Like many entrepreneurs, Erik faced major challenges during the pandemic and Typhoon Odette. Operations slowed, and uncertainty grew. But instead of giving up, he and his team adapted and became stronger. “Those experiences didn’t just test us—they strengthened us,” he says.

His leadership is guided by discipline, grit, and integrity—values he believes are key to building something that lasts. He also embraces change, using technology and new systems to improve operations and stay competitive.

To young entrepreneurs, Erik offers simple advice: “Just start.” For him, success is not just about business, but about creating opportunities and helping others grow along the way.
