CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is scheduled to visit Cebu today to attend four key activities across northern Cebu and Metro Cebu, which are envisioned to highlight the administration’s initiatives in healthcare, education, digital government services, and infrastructure development.
President Marcos will begin his visit in Bogo City, followed by events in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu Province, and Mandaue City.
The President’s first activity is the inspection of the Learning Continuity Space (LCS) and Yakap at Kalinga programs at Marcelo B. Fernan Polambato Elementary School in Bogo City.
The Yakap at Kalinga initiative is linked to government programs aimed at strengthening healthcare services in communities and schools. Through the YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan) Program, Filipinos may access free consultations, laboratory tests, medicines, and preventive health services under the country’s Universal Health Care agenda.
The activity in Bogo City is part of efforts to improve access to healthcare services in educational institutions and ensure that learners receive preventive and primary care.
After the Bogo City event, Marcos will proceed to Lapu-Lapu City to lead the inauguration of the Mactan Expo Center located within the Mactan Newtown township.
The Mactan Expo Center is a P1.5-billion convention and exhibition facility developed by Megaworld and Alliance Global Group. The facility is designed to host large-scale conventions, trade exhibitions, business events, and international gatherings.
The facility is expected to strengthen Cebu’s position as a major destination for international meetings and business events. The convention center is considered the first standalone facility of its kind in Cebu, further boosting the province’s tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry.
Another highlight of the President’s visit will be the oathtaking ceremony for newly promoted teachers under the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Cebu Province.
The ceremony recognizes teachers who recently received promotions within the Department of Education (DepEd), including those elevated to higher teaching positions or administrative roles.
The promotion of teachers also forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education and enhance professional development among educators in the province.
The President will also inspect the Bagong Pilipinas eGovPH Serbisyo Hub in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The eGovPH Serbisyo Hub serves as a one-stop government service center where citizens can access various services from different national agencies in one location.
Through digital integration, the hub allows Filipinos to process government transactions more efficiently, including registrations, document requests, social services, and other public services. The facility is part of the national government’s push to accelerate digital transformation and streamline public service delivery.
The President last visited Cebu on February 26, 2026, when he led the inauguration of the Pag-Abot Processing Center in Liloan town, a facility established by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to assist families and individuals in street situations.
During the same visit, Marcos also inspected the upgraded Visayas Disaster Resource Center in Mandaue City, which now uses automated systems capable of producing up to 30,000 family food packs per eight-hour shift for disaster response operations.
The President has emphasized that strengthening social protection and disaster response systems remains a priority of his administration, especially for disaster-prone regions such as the Visayas.
