BOC-Port of Cebu exceeds January 2026 revenue target

CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu started 2026 strong, exceeding its revenue collection target for January, which reflects improved compliance measures and more efficient revenue management.

Data showed that the Port collected ₱4.48 billion in January 2026, exceeding its target of ₱4.26 billion. This translated to a surplus of ₱220.32 million, or 5.18 percent above the goal.

The BOC–Port of Cebu attributed the strong performance to enhanced compliance monitoring, vigilant assessment of shipments, and the coordinated efforts of Customs personnel across frontline and support units.

District Collector Alexandra Yap-Lumontad said the achievement underscores the agency’s commitment to lawful and efficient revenue collection.

“Exceeding our January target sets the tone for the rest of the year. This is the result of our people’s dedication to lawful revenue collection, strengthened risk management, and close coordination with stakeholders,” Yap-Lumontad said in a statement.

She added that the Port will continue to ensure operational efficiency while upholding integrity in all transactions.

The achievement supports Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno’s goal of enhancing revenue generation. The Port of Cebu remains committed to maintaining its performance and contributing to national development through 2026.

Meanwhile, the BOC Port of Cebu marked a leadership milestone on February 9, 2026, as it celebrated the first 100 days of Yap-Lumontad at the helm. February 6 officially marked her 100th day in office as District Collector.

From the start, her leadership emphasized accountability, discipline, and professionalism. She focused on improving internal systems, enhancing coordination among frontline offices, and reinforcing operational standards.

In her first 100 days, Yap-Lumontad implemented initiatives that improved oversight, streamlined processes, and fostered collaboration among personnel. Her clear communication and hands-on approach helped align divisions and subports, enabling the Port to respond effectively to demands while supporting trade facilitation and revenue generation.

Her administration also focused on personnel engagement, reinforcing teamwork, professionalism, and a service-oriented culture, an approach that has helped boost morale and strengthen the Port’s collective commitment to its mandate.

Reflecting on the milestone, Yap-Lumontad said leadership progress is driven by consistency and collective effort.

“The past 100 days have been about listening, understanding the Port’s needs, and working decisively to move us forward. Every gain we have achieved is the result of dedication and commitment from our people.

This milestone is only the beginning, and it challenges us to continue improving how we serve the public and protect the country’s interests,” she added.
